The Project Engineer Highway will be responsible for complex engineering design tasks, project delivery, and interacting with other design staff, managers, and mentors.

Responsibilities:

  • Executes assignments requiring a basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals and the application of these fundamentals to the production of engineering work
  • Develop plans and specifications for all aspects of highway design including, but not limited to, alignments, right-of-way, drainage, E&S, traffic control, and utility coordination.
  • Executes a variety of engineering tasks including preparation of reports, investigatory studies, engineering design calculations, and detailing of structural elements
  • Translates design criteria and standard details into completed design
  • Prepares designs in compliance with company design procedures as well as client standards and code requirements
  • Assists Project Manager with contract development, including technical scope of services and cost proposal derivation
  • Is proactive in clarifying directions on project design issues, and proceeds on projects with a clear understanding of time schedule and budget
  • Completes tasks on or before scheduled amount of time and within budget
  • Attends and directs project team meetings
  • Mentors younger staff
  • Serves as Task Leader, monitoring budget and schedule compliance
  • Maintains frequent communication with project team members to verify design requirements and identify problems that arise

Requirements:

  • Candidates shall possess a BS or MS degree in civil engineering
  • 6-10 years of progressive technical experience, diversified knowledge preferred
  • Civil engineer with highway design and transportation engineering focus
  • EIT certification required with the desire to obtain their PE in the future
  • Prior experience in consulting engineering or construction industry,
  • PennDOT experience required
  • Ability to take responsibility of technical work content
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
