The Design Engineer Bridge will be responsible for complex engineering design tasks, project delivery, and interacting with other design staff, managers, and mentors.
Responsibilities:
Executes assignments requiring a basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals and the application of these fundamentals to the production of engineering work
Work on projects that typically include bridge (prestressed concrete and steel plate girder), retaining wall, box culvert, and other transportation related structures
Executes a variety of engineering tasks including preparation of reports, investigatory studies, engineering design calculations, and detailing of structural elements
Translates design criteria and standard details into completed design
Prepares designs in compliance with company design procedures as well as client standards and code requirements
Is proactive in clarifying directions on project design issues, and proceeds on projects with a clear understanding of time schedule and budget
Completes tasks on or before scheduled amount of time and within budget
Attends project team meetings
Maintains frequent communication with project team members to verify design requirements and identify problems that arise
Seeks assistance from others when assigned tasks fall outside of knowledge or experience
Performs field related tasks to gain field experience, to broaden understanding of construction techniques, and to develop practical engineering skills, in order to enhance one’s engineering design abilities
Qualifications
Candidates shall possess a BS or MS degree in civil engineering
3-7 years of progressive technical experience, diversified knowledge preferred
Civil engineer with bridge design and transportation engineering focus
EIT certification required
Prior experience in consulting engineering or construction industry, PennDOT experience a plus
Ability to take responsibility of technical work content
Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
