The Design Engineer Electrical will work with architects and building owners under the guidance of a Professional Engineer to translate owner needs into a building design that is buildable, cost-effective, and sustainable.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical plans and specifications for medium to large sized projects.
  • Perform design tasks including lighting layouts, photometrics, power distribution design, controls for refrigeration, general power design and fire alarm systems.
  • Design systems in accordance with the NEC, NFPA and IECC
  • Design projects from conceptual design to completion
  • Perform site investigations to obtain information on existing conditions.
  • Perform energy models for LEED projects.

Requirements:

  • EIT certification, with goal of achieving Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 2+ years of progressive technical experience and diversified knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices to analyze distribution systems and design lighting systems and buildings’ specialty systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an EAC/ABET certified school.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Proficient knowledge of the NEC, NFPA 101, NFPA 72, IECC and other industry codes.
  • Consulting engineering experience in the commercial, institutional, and retail markets.
  • Experience in working with architects, building owners, and utility companies.
  • Proficiency with planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating detailed phases of engineering projects.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
